A look back at 2009

The year 2009 is almost over and I feel like I need to tell you all some of the highlights of my year.

I started my year off with a new addition to my family with my very own 2009 Toyota corolla. This car has been good to me so far and I hope it will prove to be good investment.

With my job this year I have had a few new adventures and experienced a few new things. I am very grateful for the support I get in both of my jobs. With out the support I don't think I would be able to make it through some of the challenges I have faced. That is the thing with people with disabilities they always bring on challenges for you to face. In my opinion the accomplishments weigh out the challenges. Both of my jobs have there chalenges but I enjoy both of them.

In may I had the great privilege of going to New York City. This was a great trip as I quickly got use to the busy life of the people that lived there. This was defiantly one of the highlights of my year as I found the city quite beautiful. The great thing about New York is that there are so many things to do there you would never be bored. There theater shows are incredible as I was able to attend several.

The summer went by so fast as there was always something going on. I had a few more friends get married and made some short trips around Lethbridge. I spent most of my spare time in the summer playing golf as I finally bought some golf clubs this year. Every time I went I got better and the more I loved the sport. I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go next summer. I of course played tennis this summer but it got put on the back burnner as I spent most of my time golfing.

I have really enjoyed living with my roommate this year. We get along really well and we enjoy a lot of the same things so we have a lot of fun together. We recently went and saw so you think you can dance in Calgary. So much better in person. We decided this year that we were not going to buy each other presents this year for Christmas that we were going to go on a trip together. I think this will be great, we just have to decide where we are going to go.

I have had a lot of sickness this year but have recovered each time which I am truly grateful for. With all of the ups and downs this year I am looking forward to the new adventures of the new year. I wish you all a great 2010!

Alive and moving onward!

I am alive and living again. For the last week I have used up an entire box of Kleenex and swallowed every pill imaginable. I am finally breathing out of my nose and my coughs have come down to a minimum. There is just something about colds you just can not wait till they are over. I am on an upward spiral and no I don't have H1N1.

The last little while has been a busy one but lets be real when is it not busy. So I have had a few weekends off lately. I was able to go home and visit my parents Sept long weekend and then the following weekend went up to Edmonton to visit some more family which is always fun. I had the great privilege of attending a football game which was one of my goals this year. Edmonton lost but that is another story. The good thing about a bigger city is the more options of things to do. I just couldn't live there with all the roads and traffic etc.

I attended another weeding recently and I have now decided that I just don't want to do a reception. To much craziness, to much work. To make it easier on my self I will give them something to eat and send them home. I know I am always changing my mind. I am just thinking that I would rather spend money on my honeymoon then on the weeding. Just a new thought we will see how that lasts.

I was able to go to the Calgary Zoo a few days ago with a client. It has been a few years since I have been there so I kind of forgot what it was like. It is a lot of walking but I think it was worth it. They have added a lot of animals since I have been there last and a lot of them were a lot of fun to look at. The thing about zoo animals is that they get fed all day long, they get to relax and have fun, they just don't have a lot of room to roam. I don't think that it is that bad of a life.

The last time I wrote I mentioned that the Tennis US Open had begun. The best tennis tournament of the whole year. This years tournament was a little crazy. There was a 17teen year old that blew everyone away and made to the forth round and then lost but shocked everyone with her talent. There was a lot of the top seeded players who kept loosing very early. This made it easier for some of the other players to make it further. Kim Clijsters on the female side, who has not played for a while because she had a baby, came back better then ever to win against Serena Williams in the final. This also shocked the tennis world. On the men's side Ferder lost in the final to a very unknown tennis player. So yes this years US Open was something else. It will be remembered for years to come.

There has been a new addition to my family as my youngest brother and his wife had a baby boy. I now have six nephews and no nieces. How ever I am very happy for them.

Fall is upon us and I am trying to do as much as I can outside before winter comes. As you know there is nothing I like about it getting colder. If you like the weather just remember of what comes next. Maybe we won't get winter this year. Wishful thinking I Know.

Goodbye August Hello September!

We are now on the last day of August, can you believe it. August went by so quickly. The funny thing is that the hot weather that we have been having comes at the end of summer. Hopefully this means that summer will stay longer and winter will come later. Wishful thinking I know.

Recently I was able to go to a musical in the town of Cardston. This was the first time I was able to attend there summer musicals and I must say it was not to bad. I attended the fun musical "Singing in the Rain" which is always a classic. There cast consists of mostly local people. Most of them are pretty young but pretty good. So if you have not attended the Cardston plays you should put this no your to do list.

Speaking of a to do list. I have been pondering buying a house for a long time and the other day I finally decided that it was time to see if I could do it. I made an appointment with the mortgage people and I was on my way. Let me tell you it is not as easy as it looks. There is so much that goes into buying a house that I had no idea about. So I was approved for a certain amount of money and it is really hard to find something decent that is in that price range. I don't want something that I will have to put a lot of money into but I can't afford brand new. So as you can see the selection is very slim. It's such a big purchase that I want to make sure I make the right decision.

On the weekend I didn't do to much because I had to work the whole time. I am very excited as I get the next two weekends off. What will I do with all that time! If the weather is as good as it is now, I will be a happy camper.

For all you tennis fans out there, the US open starts today! I am so excited!!! Andy Rodic all the way!!! As for the girls I just don't know who to cheer for maybe Serena. Any who watch it, you won't be sorry!

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful weather as much as I am! Here's to September which I have a feeling will bring on some new adventures!!!

Summer all year round!

Sorry that I have not been around I have not had my computer for some time and now have it back. It's amazing how well I have done with out it.

Well we have had our share of rain this summer. This week has finally been rain free so far. Don't tell anyone its a secret or it might rain. I have been enjoying my summer even with the rain. It is my favorite time of year! It just never seams to last long enough. Why is there not enough summer months!!! Summer all year round! Spread it around and it might happen.

July went by way to fast. I attended some weddings, enjoyed the sunshine and said goodbye to a dear friend. There is only one good thing about someone dieing is that it brings friends together. I am a firm believer of this now. My August has also flown by. I did however get to go camping one weekend which was a lot of fun. I was able to attend some city festivities recently which in my opinion is always a good time.

Recently I have taken up running which just so that everyone knows is very hard. I find that it is a good workout and it gives me a change from my usual routine workout. I have come to the conclusion that you can never work out enough. No matter how fit you think you are it is always good to work out. I try to work out a few days a week, however sometimes that doesn't work out.

This summer has been great for the sport of golf. In the spring I was able to by some golf clubs and I have so intensely enjoyed this sport. I have been able to go several times with friends and each time I go I have gotten better. The other day I got my first birdie! There is something about having that one great shot. You can have a million bad shots and have one good shot and it will make your day. I know I am rambling but I think everyone should try golf at least once!

I have also had the privilege of going to the wonderful Waterton Lakes National Park a few times this summer. Every time I go I just love it there and don't want to leave. Just a suggestion to all of you who are tourists and think that wild animals wont hurt you they will. There has been so many people this summer try to feed deer. Yes they are nice to look at but come on they will attack if you feed them. That is just my hint for the day. I was so very lucky to see about 10 bear this year. I just love bears. I am not stupid and go up to them they are just so cute to look at!!!

I hope I will remember to update everyone on whats going on! Jenn Easthope this blog is for you!!!!

Love Mary

Only good comes to those that wait!!!

I know that it has been an extremely long time since I have written and I apologize. I seem to be putting work lately in front of everything else in my life. I know this is not a good thing and I am trying to say no but I am just not very good at it. So anyways there has been a lot going on in my life as of late and I will try to give you all a few of the high lights!

On May 12 I took a trip to New York City!. Some friends and I rented an apartment for the 10 days that we were there. I had not been on a trip in a very long time I was a little scared. I was mostly scared about dealing with the big crowds of people as I don't do well in large crowds. After the second day in this big city I became comfortable around the large crowds and their lifestyle. There were so many wonder full things there it would take me forever to tell you all of them but some of the best things were the statue of liberty, central park, Broadway shows, New york pizza, hot dogs and cheesecake. Our apartment was really close to time square where there is never a dull moment as the stores stay open till midnight. We also did a boat ride around the island and made a trip up the empire state building. We went to a Broadway show every night and I even saw some very well know stars! I did end up doing a little bit of shopping because the people I went with were really into that. I mostly tagged along but did end up buying a few things. There were a few things that that were very different in new york that I didn't really realize being from Canada. There are no houses as there is just no land for them so you do have to live in an apartment. However the cost of them is unreal. There is always people trying to get money out of you so I soon learned how to give no eye contact and keep walking. I was also able to go to church while I was there which was also very nice experience. It is true when you hear people say the church is the same no mater where you go in the world. It's a totally different world in New York. It is a very fast paced lifestyle and I would love to go back and visit but I don't think I would ever want to live there. I had a great vacation and can't wait for the next one!

When I got back from New York I very quickly got back into my life style as my boss called the next day to get me to come to work. The weekend I got back I got to spend a little time with some family that I hadn't seen in a while which was a lot of fun.

Some of the fun things that I have done recently are some bonfires which I love, going to lots of movies, some bad some good. Attending a few friends birthday parties, some consisting of karaoke. There of course is all of the summer activities that I love. You just can't go wrong with summer!!! At least in my opinion.

Last week I had an eye opener when I attended my first rumble in the cage. For all of those of you who don't know it is wrestling in a cage. There is suppose to be three rounds and most of the wrestlers don't make it past the first round. I didn't mind the fighting, I just didn't like when they passed out or got hurt. That's just the kind of sport it is I guess.

Those are the main things that have been going on in my life. I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather as much as I am!

Way to long!

Oh my gosh has it been way to long since I have written. I really have no excuse. I mean exept for the usual stuff like work. Over a month ago waas the last time I wrote and that to me is way to long. I will never do that again I promise! There has been a lot going on in my life and a lot of things yet to come so I will just give you a few of the highlights.

In the begining of April I had the great privlage of seeing the famous globe trodders. Let me tell you they put on a fantastic show. Its mostly geared towards kids but they know how to get all who attend involved and interested in whats going on. The family that I look after in the evening was able to attend as well and when I asked them what they liked about the show they said that they liked it when the dumped water on me. The little things that amuse kids.

At Easter I was able to go to my parents house where my entire family was there. It was great to have the whole family together. That dose not happen to much these days as our famil is getting bigger and everyone is getting busyer. Our family did not fail at having fun! There was games, making easter bunny out of snow and of course hockey. It was truly a fun weekend held by all.

One of my best friends got married last weekend and has now moved on to her new life. I was able to do a bridal shower for her a few days before her weeding. There was a pretty good turnout and what I liked the best is that there were only two games. To me bridal showers should be short and sweet. Thats the way I like them. I am getting to be such a pro as I have done so many of them. I should start charging people and make so money. Ha Ha! Her wedding went really well. She was really nervous as I am sure I would be to. She insited on me being there all day so I taged along and got some good pictures. It was a very long day that started at 12pm and did not end till 9pm. That is to long for me. I want my weeding to be short and sweet just like the bridal shower. I know I am weird.

So those are a few of my highlights! I have some really excited things coming up in my life so stay tuned! I have a few pictures to show of the things that I have been doing!

Weddings, Family, and Movies!

Do you ever wonder why things happen to you well I have come to the knowledge that every thing that happens to us in life is for a reason. This is probably not new to most of you but for my self it is a new realization. There has been a lot of things happen to me over the last little while, some have been good and some bad and I am very grateful for everything that has come my way.

I was able to spend some wonderful time with my family this weekend. One of my cousins got married and so my parents and one of my brothers made the trip down for the weeding. I am not a huge fan of weddings as a lot of you must know but I was quite happy with the way this one went. My cousin got married and then right after had her reception. This I think is one of the smartest things to do. For the reception she just had a dinner no program or any thing else. People could leave if they wanted to or stick around. I thought it was a great idea.

I was able to watch my nephew this weekend play some basketball. He is in grade three and I thought it was quite funny how serious the parents were with there kids for them to win. However my nephew did quite well. Something I have to look forward to I guess when I have children. Don't worry that is not any time soon! HA HA

Speaking of children there will be a new addition to my family as my sister in law from Edmonton is pregnant. Are family keeps growing which is a wonderful thing! I wonder if this will be a girl or a boy she informed me that she was not going to find out. We have no granddaughters as of yet just grandsons so we shall see.

My roommate and I tend to always watch movies on Sunday and this Sunday I had the great privilege of watching two really good movies. The first one was A knights tale. This one of my roommates favorite movies and I can see why. Lots of comedy, action and a little bit of romance. Who could ask for anything more. I was able to watch a great church movie tonight that I thought was very well done. I don't like a lot of church movies as I find the acting is not very good but I was very impressed with this one, its called Anxiously Engaged. Not your typical Mormon movie but in my opinion very well done.

Well that's about it for my highlights! Remember I will be back! talk to you soon!
